Anthony Meloni is the U.S. Representative for Skrabl Orglarstvo of Slovenia. In this capacity, he is responsible for sales and installations of new organs.
Anthony Meloni was a student at Manhattan School of Music from 1973-1976, majoring in Music Theory. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music in 1977 from SUNY at Purchase, and subsequently attended Teachers college at Columbia University. His musical training also involved studies in piano, harpsichord and organ, including keyboard studies with Anthony Newman. After teaching for a brief time at St. Ann's School in Brooklyn Heights, one of the premier private grade schools in New York City, he embarked on a career in instrument building.
Mr. Meloni worked for Zuckermann Harpsichords in the mid-1970's, during which time he was responsible for building and decorating Zuckermann instruments for clients throughout the United States. His career in organ building and restoration began in 1977 at the firm of J.H. & C.S. Odell & Co. He was responsible for maintenance and restoration work on many historic Odell organs. Following the closing of Odell's doors in 1982, Mr. Meloni further honed his skills at the New York based Mann & Trupiano Organbuilders, where he worked on such historic instruments as the Appleton Organ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Aeolian Organ at the Frick Collection, St. Thomas Fifth Avenue and St. Mary the Virgin.
Mr. Meloni is formerly the U.S. Representative for Rudolf von Beckerath Orgelbau, Hamburg, Germany (1999-2012) where his duties involved sales of new organs, as well as maintenance and warranty work. Mr. Meloni assisted long time Beckerath employee Klaus Schmekal on the restoration of the three manual von Beckerath at Yale University, and performed major post-hurricane restorative repairs on the Beckerath at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston.
Anthony Meloni lives in Rye, NY with his wife Sharla Nafziger (www.sharlanafziger.com), children Lia and Luca, ChaCha the cat, and Rocco the dog.
